Multiple photos in a single post? You bet!
Instagram is at is again, folks. The long list of major releases is growing at lightning speed and this time around, it’s all about visuals. You might have heard. Users are now able to upload multiple pictures in one single post, in the form of a slideshow photo album.
While this may be a bit of a surprising move, given that Instagram has had a pretty consistent streamlined approach to sharing visuals, it only makes sense when you look at their recent track record. They’ve steadily been releasing a new Instagram feature multiple times a quarter for over a year now, even encroaching on various platforms’ territories. Aka the Instagram Stories similarity to Snapchat and the save function borrowing from Pinterest. This one takes a page our their parental unit’s [Face]book (social media humor), whose original claim to fame was the photo album.
But with Instagram content trends increasingly progressing towards the more meticulous and becoming less and less about the candid selfies or #fwis shots, this should alleviate some of the agony Instagrammers face when needing to select only one image from a series of great ones. The conundrum of trying to choose that single gallery-worthy killer shot is an excruciating reality for anyone who treats their feed’s aesthetic seriously.
Well, no more:
With this update, you no longer have to choose the single best photo or video from an experience you want to remember. Now, you can combine up to 10 photos and videos in one post and swipe through to see them all.
In a way, it’s surprising that this multi photo Instagram slideshow had not yet been released to the masses, seeing as the format has been available to advertisers for a while now.
This is a big deal. While it’s a fun new feature for regular users to Instagram multiple pictures at once for all their friends and family to see, think of the endless possibilities for brands or influencers hired for social campaigns. It will allow businesses to expand their visual storytelling narratives and sharpen their line of communication through photos and videos. Get ready for exponential brand worlds to exist on the platform, if done well.
